From October 15 to 20, the Hellenic Rescue Team (HRT) invites you to the ICAR Congress 2024 in Thessaloniki, Greece. As the largest society for alpine rescue, ICAR offers a platform for science and training in the medical, alpine and aeronautical fields that is unique in the world. We are very pleased to be there and to be able to present our ultra-light and mobile patient monitoring system and discuss its potential for use in air and mountain rescue.
Innovation, training and international cooperation
In addition to the main sessions with lectures and presentations, the ICAR 2024 Congress will also offer its participants a live rescue demonstration by the HRT on Mount Olympus. The congress will focus on the latest developments in alpine rescue, including technical and procedural advances, new materials, innovative technologies, pre-hospital care and first aid. The analysis of accident statistics and incidents is also a central part of the presentations. The main topic of the congress is the training and further education of rescuers.
This year’s congress will take place in Thessaloniki and on Mount Olympus, the “mountain of the gods”. Both locations are of great importance to the hosts: Thessaloniki is home to the HRT headquarters and Mount Olympus is not only a historical site, but also the location of the HRT mountain hut Petrostrouga, where numerous mountain missions are carried out.
Ultralight and mobile patient monitoring
We are pleased to present our system for mobile patient monitoring, which is based on the 6.5 g in-ear sensor, c-med° alpha, and the application for mobile devices, cosinuss° Health, to the participants of the ICAR 2024 congress. In the app for Android and iOS smartphones and tablets, the measured vital parameters SpO2, body temperature and pulse rate as well as the perfusion and quality index of the person being monitored can be kept in view at all times in addition to the PPG curve. The monitoring technology has already been tested several times in various studies and pilot projects in air and mountain rescue, prolonged field care and offshore rescue as well as successfully used in various remote monitoring projects (see references).
More about ICAR and Hellenic Rescue Team (HRT)
The International Commission for Alpine Rescue ICAR is a non-profit, non-governmental organization founded with the main objective of ensuring best practices in mountain rescue techniques. The exchange of information between mountain rescue services around the world takes place via the ICAR platform, joint research work, lobbying and finally via the annual congress.
The Hellenic Rescue Team (HRT) is a voluntary search and rescue organization whose members have been involved in missions since 1978. It has been a registered association since 1994. HRT’s headquarters are in Thessaloniki, but its network extends to 34 branches throughout Greece. HRT has been the only organization in Greece to be a member of ICAR since 2007.
We are very much looking forward to an exciting exchange at the ICAR Congress 2024 in Thessaloniki!
