Slovenian Mountain Rescue Association Adopts Cutting-Edge Patient Monitoring Technology from cosinuss°

Jesenice (SLO) / Munich (DE), September 14, 2024 - The Slovenian Mountain Rescue Association (GRZS) is setting new standards in its operation by equipping its teams with the innovative and ultra-light patient monitoring system from cosinuss°. With this decision, the GRZS became the first European mountain rescue organization to equip its entire organization with the cosinuss° cutting edge solution. This small but powerful technology is ready to revolutionize mobile patient monitoring in highly challenging environments.

On September 14, the Day of Slovenian Mountain Rescuers, cosinuss° with the Slovenian Mountain Rescue Association and the Jesenice Mountain Rescue Association used the occasion of their 100th anniversary celebrations to officially hand over the new cutting-edge monitoring solution to the President of the GRZS, Dr. Gregor Dolinar, and present them to the mountain rescuers.

The solution from cosinuss° composed of the c-med° alpha in-ear sensor and the cosinuss° Health mobile application, provides the Slovenian mountain rescuers with a compact, lightweight patient monitoring solution that can be easily carried in a pocket and used with smartphones or tablets. The c-med° alpha not only measures pulse rate, oxygen saturation, and body temperature but also delivers essential additional data such as perfusion and quality index. Thanks to the continuously visible PPG signal in the cosinuss° Health App, rescuers can conduct precise monitoring. Weighing just 6.5 g, with a size of 4.5 cm and wireless Bluetooth transmission, the sensor is not only extremely lightweight but also highly user-friendly.

Choosing the outer ear canal as the measurement site offers significant advantages over traditional places like the finger. The ear canal allows for more accurate and reliable detection of vital signs due to its proximity to the brain, consistent blood flow, and protected inner positioning. Additionally, its proximity to the brain can be very helpful for additional interpretation of the measured values.

This new technology has already proven its effectiveness in numerous studies and pilot projects, particularly in remote patient monitoring and mountain and air rescue operations. Now, the Slovenian Mountain Rescue Service joins the ranks of pioneers in mountain rescue by adopting this technology. “We are thrilled about this new partnership with the Slovenian Mountain Rescue Service.
