The first Medical Design Solution Day will take place on December 7, 2023 in Haar near Munich under the motto “Connecting medical devices safely”. The event is primarily aimed at medical technology developers and engineers. Using practical examples, the speakers will present technical approaches and products for innovative data and communication exchange on medical devices. We at cosinuss° are delighted to also be able to present our experience with the use of our mobile patient monitoring system!
Challenges of medical connection technology
AI-supported medical devices, robotics in surgery or the prediction of diseases via apps – the future of medical technology is based on advanced networking. The backbone of this digital MedTech networking and IoMT consists of medical cables, connectors, safety-relevant wireless connections and embedded systems. However, connectivity technology in medicine, both in terms of hardware and software, presents developers and engineers with a particular challenge. In many cases, connectivity is still not the focus of systems today, even though it is crucial for functionality and certification according to MDR/FDA standards.
Mobile patient monitoring with cosinuss°
cosinuss° CEO Dr. Johannes Kreuzer will give a presentation entitled “From hospital to home care: connectivity technologies for mobile patient monitoring”. The mobile patient monitoring system has already been used, tested and further developed in numerous studies, pilot projects and real operations – both in emergency medicine, in hospitals and in remote monitoring. Seamless communication between the individual components plays a key role in all of these scenarios. Depending on the requirements, these consist of one or more in-ear sensors, gateway(s) and an app for tablets or smartphones. The vital data measured by the in-ear sensor is transmitted via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) to gateway(s) or end devices with the cosinuss° Health app. The data received can be forwarded via LAN, WLAN or mobile connection – for example to a nearby hospital or doctor’s practice so that the vital signs can be accessed remotely using the cosinuss° desktop application. In addition, cosinuss° ensures that uncomplicated integration or combination with third-party devices is possible at any time.
