Montreux, Switzerland
As the largest society for alpine rescue, ICAR provides a platform for science and education in the medical, alpine and aeronautical fields of work that is unique in the world. This year, the ICAR World Congress will take place in Montreux (Switzerland) from October 12 to 15 with the theme “The Future of Mountain Search and Rescue”. With numerous top-class scientists, technicians and physicians, the course will be set for new strategies in alpine rescue.
In the field of rescue medicine, PD Dr. Roman Schniepp, neurologist, emergency physician and intensive care physician at the LMU Munich Hospital, will present the potential of cosinuss° sensor technology in alpine rescue.
Best possible care for people who have suffered an alpine accident
If a person has an accident in the alpine region, prehospital emergency care is associated with various challenges for the rescue forces. Integrated care concepts are particularly necessary in inaccessible terrain. If novel diagnostic technologies reach patients at an early stage, valuable time gains and early therapy decisions can be achieved – both key factors for severely injured people who need to be rescued for a long time.
Mobile vital sign monitoring in emergency medicine
PD Dr. Roman Schniepp will present the cosinuss° in-ear sensors as a mobile solution for monitoring severely injured patients in prehospital emergency medicine. In the context of joint research projects (MoReTech: Mountain Rescue Technology Study), PD Dr. Schniepp was able to deliver groundbreaking results with cosinuss° in the monitoring of relevant vital parameters of patients during alpine rescue or air rescue scenarios. A presentation with discussion of the results will take place from 9:00 to 10:30 am (note: day to be announced).
More about ICAR
The International Commission for Alpine Rescue ICAR is a non-profit, non-governmental organization established with the main objective of ensuring best practices in mountain rescue techniques. The exchange of information between mountain rescue services around the world takes place through the ICAR platform, joint research, lobbying and finally through the annual congress.
PD Dr. Schniepp and cosinuss° are looking forward to an exciting event and an interesting exchange at ICAR 2022 in Montreux!
